ABOUT SHAWN
Shawn Bonneau is a singer/songwriter from Central Florida. His music is greatly influenced by U2 with a Dave
Matthews meets Dashboard Confessional sound. He began his career at the age of 14, playing guitar in a local
church in Maine before writing his own music and taking to the Open Mic scene. Shawn started playing his own
shows in 2004 and had college radio success with his songs “Breathe You” ...and “Linger”.
In 2005, Shawn became a staple in the Maine indie music scene, often performing at showcases for the Maine
Songwriters Association. He worked part time as a stagehand for various concert venues in New England, working
for the likes of George Thorogood, Hootie and the Blowfish, Travis Tritt and Kenny Chesney among others. He took
everything he learned from them to help better his career. This helped Shawn have more success in 2006 with the
song “Your Beautiful Mind” from his EP “Paper Planes”. The songs recorded in 2006 were full arrangements and
were heavily produced, but performed on acoustic guitar when done live. “Your Beautiful Mind” became a staple
in his setlist, often requested by the audience.
After a couple years of promoting “Paper Planes”, Shawn starting working on new acoustic songs, sometimes
opting to record them on piano. “Scar” and “I Found Something in You” were new setlist staples and soon became
popular among his New England fan base.
Shawn moved to Central Florida in the summer of 2010. He hosts a popular podcast called “WaltCast” that
interviews celebrities about Disney. The show often features interviews with popular musical groups such as
Hanson, Expose’, the Gin Blossoms, Taylor Dayne, Air Supply, Starship, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy and Davy Jones
of the Monkees. Shawn has become close with the band Sister Hazel after having interviewed them a number of
times for the show.
Shawn is currently working a new album that will be released worldwide on iTunes and Amazon in the fall of
2011. The album will feature re-recorded versions of his popular songs as well as new material he has been
working on over the last couple of years. He’ll spend several months touring to promote the album and gain a
larger following.
Shawn lives in Orlando, Florida, with his wife Katie.
